ctahome The Michigan Life Sciences Corridor Core Technology Alliance is a consortium of  research universities: Michigan State University, Wayne State University, the University of Michigan, the Van Andel Research Institute, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo Valley Community College and Grand Valley State University.

The mission of the Core Technology Alliance is to develop a collaborative network of technologically sophisticated core facilities to enhance life sciences research and product development throughout the State of Michigan.

It is envisioned that the Core Technology Alliance will be a catalyst for development of life sciences and biotechnology research and development by providing access to advanced technologies to Michigan researchers affiliated with universities, private research institutes and biotechnology or pharmaceutical firms.


Mission

The CTA serves as a catalyst for biotechnology research and business development in the life sciences for the state of Michigan, providing advanced technology and specialized research services to scientists affiliated with universities, private research institutes, biotechnology companies, and pharmaceutical firms.

Vision

As a business organization, the CTA has primary responsibility to foster and facilitate the access to, and the growth and sustainability of, the core facilities by marketing and coordinating delivery of services. The CTA enables and ensures the coordination of scientific and technical leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making across its member institutions. The CTA encourages the development and affiliation of new and novel core services to support further development of the Michigan life sciences sector.

Goals

  • Provide new or enhanced technology to life scientists in Michigan and nationally in both academic and industrial settings.
  • Coordinate marketing of services to potential users.
  • Foster an environment of collaboration throughout Michigan, forging links among academic and corporate users.
  • Stimulate new R&D initiatives not feasible without CTA technologies.
  • Attract to Michigan and/or retain the brightest researchers with the promise of access to state-of-the-art core technologies.
  • Train a new generation of life science investigators for academic and corporate jobs.
